Core information normally required

  • Certificate of Sponsorship reference number supplied by the employer.
  • Valid passport or other document showing identity and nationality.
  • Job title, annual salary and occupation code.
  • Employer name and sponsor licence number.
  • Evidence of English knowledge where the route requires it.

Documents that depend on circumstances

These are not required in every application.

  • Bank evidence for maintenance unless the sponsor certifies maintenance or another exemption applies.
  • Relationship evidence for a partner or children applying as dependants.
  • Tuberculosis test certificate for applicants covered by the published country and residence rules.
  • Criminal-record certificate for specified jobs when applying from outside the UK.
  • ATAS certificate for certain sensitive research roles at PhD level or above.
  • UK PhD certificate or Ecctis reference where a qualification is being relied upon.
  • Certified translations for documents not in English or Welsh.
